Process Engineer

Labconco Corporation, a manufacturer of laboratory equipment, is hiring a Process Engineer to work with our manufacturing associates to improve manufacturing processes, conduct cost-reduction research and implement plans, perform quality improvements, and efficiency studies. Also, this associate would be assisting in improving production control, standard operating procedures, safety, quality control, and training.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates understanding of Lean Philosophy
  • Assists in performing product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, improved efficiency, identifies needs for production equipment, optimizes methods and sequence of work
  • Represents manufacturing on cross-functional teams
  • Understanding of engineering configuration management with the ability to convert engineering requirements into manufacturing instructions
  • Assists in the project management of new and current projects under technical guidance of higher level engineers or departmental management
  • Develops and assigns standard time values using time study and predetermined time systems, then monitors performance, and prepares reports, statistics, and recommendations for management review
  • Implements defined needs for test equipment, procedures, and manufacturing or operating processes that improve productivity and reduce cycle time. Facilitates implementation of improvements
  • Familiar with evaluating ergonomics of operations, may create tools and recommendations to operators to improve the human factors of tasks
  • Ability to learn a wide variety of software in order to develop tools to aid manufacturing in understanding load
  • Follows standards for originating, refining, maintaining, and releasing complex manufacturing work instructions
  • Participates in root cause analysis on manufacturing defects and coordinates corrective actions of basic scope using proper engineering tools and techniques
  • Participates in planning for new designs, and may suggest design changes that provide best-case results for cycle time and product quality
  • Gains knowledge of and demonstrates understanding of ECO implementation
  • Participate in Design Reviews with senior members of the operations engineering team
  • Communicates status of work clearly providing visibility to supervisor
