Product Manager - Laboratory Products

We are hiring for a Product Manager within our Marketing Department. This position has primary responsibility for management and growth of products within assigned portfolio. Understands competitive landscape and identifies market opportunities. As needed, will serve as the technical resource for dealers, end users and Labconco associates requiring product selection, function and applications support.

The ideal candidate would have expertise within either the Life Sciences, Engineering, or Marketing and a desire to be a GO-TO person for all products within their assigned portfolio of products.

Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing the marketing activities necessary to promote product portfolio including, but not limited to, development of sales support material (literature, application notes, online content, etc.), dealer support material (fliers, webcasts, articles, etc.), promotions, annual marketing plans and other activities designed to support and enhance the positioning of the Labconco brand in the minds of customers and within the market overall.
  • Research markets, product applications and competitive environment. Brings competitive product information, product improvement suggestions and new product development ideas to the attention of the New Products Committee.
  • Understand competitive landscape. Builds and maintains competitive files for products within portfolio. Analyzes differences between Labconco products and major competitors and communicates information to Labconco Sales and Support teams.
  • Lead Product Development Team(s) in assigned product portfolio, develops a Product Development Proposal and implements Market Introduction Plan for new and/or redesigned products.
  • Use field travel to build market, product and competitive knowledge and to assist Sales Representatives or customers.
  • Collaborate with Marketing Communications, develops appropriate promotional programs and educational content for products in assigned portfolio.
  • Provide training, conducts seminars and develops training materials on assigned product portfolio.
  • Understand applications and operation of products in portfolio. Gathers and publishes applications from end users (with their approval). Encourages product development that supports new and existing applications.
  • Provide technical, application and sales support for assigned product portfolio to Customer Service, Field Representatives and Inside Sales Representatives; Inside/Outside Dealer Representatives; and End Users, when needed.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned by the Marketing Manager.
  • Associates in exempt positions are expected to work the hours necessary to complete assignments. For full-time exempt associates, the work schedule is 80 hours per bi-weekly payroll period. If the number of hours necessary to complete an assignment exceeds 80 hours within a payroll period, the associate is expected to work a reasonable number of additional hours as part of the associate’s job requirements.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in either Life Sciences, Engineering, or Marketing and 5+ years of experience in product management or business management.
