President's "E" Award

Labconco Corporation, Kansas City, Missouri received The President's
"E" Award for excellence in export business on December 9, 1996.
This award is one of the most prestigious export achievement honors conferred
on US. companies. Created in 1961 by executive order of President John F.
Kennedy, it was designed to give special recognition to those few outstanding
companies and individuals who excelled in their effort to increase United
States exports. The "E" Award, which stands for Excellence, Expansion,
Effort and Exports, has, over the past three decades, come to symbolize the
finest in American commerce and stands as a reminder of the ever increasing
importance and value of participation in the global marketplace. It was modeled
after a World War II method of recognizing production plants for patriotism
called "E Pennants."
To be considered for the award, Labconco provided documentation of the
substantial contribution exports make to its overall sales of laboratory
equipment. The company also produced examples of "outstanding and
aggressive creative marketing," including product literature and
instruction manuals in foreign languages, customized products to meet
foreign market requirements, compliance with ISO 9000 and European Community
product design regulations and other export requirements.
Labconco Corporation was founded in 1925 in Kansas City, Missouri as Laboratory
Construction Company. Its extensive line of laboratory equipment and apparatus
serves as broad variety of laboratory customers including universities,
research centers, hospitals and governmental agencies. Products are sold
through a worldwide network of laboratory supply distributors. Labconco
employs more than 200 associates at facilities in three locations: Lenexa
and Fort Scott, Kansas and Kansas City, Missouri.
